Life is traumatic. Life is splendid. Life is composed of what painters call chiaroscuro: darkness and light playing against each other to illustrate the world. My stories are about the interaction between these two extremes, the points where trauma and wonder cross, where splendor and grief shake hands, and where together they create something new, something startling, something uncanny.
